Learn more about J-Shields Medical Face Shields by reading a few of the most common questions we hear from our customers.
How do I clean the face shield?
Our cleaning procedure is based on CDC guidelines. There is a Whitepaper on our site with more details.
There are two steps to cleaning and disinfection. Both work together to provide the best results:
- Don gloves
- Inspect the shield and discard if damage is found.
- Wash all surfaces in a warm soapy water solution.
- Wipe dry with a clean soft cloth or air dry. Air dry will reduce the chance of scratching the visor.
- Don gloves
- Wipe the shield from inside out using a 70% IPA solution.
- Allow IPA to contact the shield materials for the recommended time specified by the IPA manufacturer. Contact time is very important and different brands claim different contact times.
- Air dry.
Why are these medical face shields better?
J-Shield Medical Face Shield
J-Shield medical face shields
The J-Shield Face Shield is an FDA Class I medical device. Our face shields provide larger face coverage than many face shields on the market. The materials used for the face shield are 100% medical grade and chemical resistant: closed cell foam, integrated PETG head strap and medical grade visor. A key feature of the J-Shield face Shield is the medical grade closed cell head foam and the strap feature, which do not absorb contaminants such as sweat, make-up and cleaning chemicals. They are easily decontaminated.
The face shield visor was designed with clinical feedback from world renowned medical institutions. Additional specifications can be downloaded at http://j-pacmedical.com/pdfs/product-sheets/J-Shields-Product-Sheet.pdf.
Can I reuse the medical face shield?
Reusable Medical Face Shield
J-Shield - Reusable Medical Face Shield
Yes. However, reusing the face shield requires a cleaning procedure approved by the healthcare institution that are validated per regulatory requirements. The face shield materials are resistant to 10% Bleach, 70% IPA, VIREX and similar cleaning agents.
Studies show that each COVID-19 patient can require healthcare workers to use 50 disposable face shields. We believe this is an unnecessary environmental waste problem and exasperates the shortage of PPE. Reuse the face shield after cleaning with a healthcare institution’s approved cleaning protocol.
